Outline of the entry

Phatthalung Province ranks second in southern Thailand for pig farming. However, the large number of pig farms has led to increasing health issues among pigs. When farmers lose pigs due to illness, their income decreases, and in some cases, they are unable to continue operating their farms. Therefore, we have developed an innovation that can monitor and alert farmers about the health status of their pigs before serious problems arise, such as disease outbreaks. This allows farmers to intervene in time and prevent major losses.

Characteristics of the entry

“Our innovation, the Pig Health Test Tape, is designed to monitor changes in pig health and send alerts directly to farmers through the Blynk application. The system provides three key types of health data:Temperature Monitoring – Utilizing the GY-906 sensor to measure body temperature.
Movement Detection – Using a vibration sensor to monitor the pigs’ activity levels.
Heart Rate Monitoring – Employing the MAX30102 sensor to track the pigs‘ heart rate.
All sensors are powered by a lithium-polymer battery and data transmission is handled via the ESP32 microcontroller, which connects to the farm’s internal WiFi network. The collected data is transmitted wirelessly and can be accessed directly by farmers through their mobile devices, enabling real-time monitoring and timely intervention.”

Demonstration details

“For user operation, each device is equipped with a unique QR code for alert registration. Farmers simply need to download the Blynk application, complete the registration process, and scan the QR code to start receiving notifications.
Once the Pig Health Test Tape device is powered on and connected to the farm’s WiFi network, it will continuously monitor the pigs’ health conditions.
If any abnormalities or significant changes in a pig‘s health are detected, the system will immediately transmit the relevant data to the farmer’s mobile device via the Blynk application, ensuring timely awareness and action.”
